How does lamotrigine works?
Lamotrigine works by blocking sodium channel which play active role in abnormal electric firing that cause seizures. lamotrigine is broad spectrum antiepileptic. Lamotrigine does not cure the epilepsy instead it only treats the seizures episode and its recurrence. Lamotrigine does not treat all types of seizures effectively. It can be used as mono-therapy or used combined with other medications. Lamotrigine can be used to treat bipolar disorder (episodes of mania and depression) especially type one.
