Myths are so popular around the world that there are even different medical myths famous among the people around the world. like reading in dim lights can cause eye problems to taking bath just after eating food can affect your health. Though some of the myths might be medically correct while some are just ridiculously stupid. No matter what the fact is, we have been hearing a lot of myths and believing it and not to forget, we have been passing the myths to other people too. But its normal for people with few or even zero medical knowledge to believe in these myths.

But did you know that even doctors, the guardians of our health believe in different myths although there is very less evidence about the correctness of these myths. But these myths might not sound so stupid and simple as those of the normal people, these myths are also sometimes pointless and without any scientific verifications. So after using the drug, they suffer from different allergic reactions which can even be life threatening. In such cases, antiallergic drugs are used to treat the condition.

But did you know that, most of the doctors believe that H1 blockers (one of the group of antihistamine drugs) can always prevent all kinds of drug related allergies.

Myth number 3:

All antibiotics are immunosuppressive substances( meaning it will decrease your immunity). so, immunomodulators must be prescribed as a component therapy of infection.

Myth number 4:

Antifungals should always be prescribed with antibiotic therapy as antibiotics will always cause fungal infection.

Myth number 5:

All the antibiotics kill normal good intestinal bacteria, so different bacterial complexes such as probiotics, prebiotics or symbiotics should always be administered together with antibiotic therapy.

Myth number 6:

Different metabolism drugs or also known as supplements, such as vitamins, enzymes, antioxidants, etc are safe substances and may only improve patients health but do not harm them.

Myth number 7:

Usually, newer medications are much safer and much better than older ones.

Plant origin drugs are more safer than synthetic ones.

European and american generic drugs are better than indian generic drugs , but indian generic drugs are better than chinese generic drugs. seriously, what about the bioequivalency?

Though these above mentioned myths are not correct at all and instead of causing benefit to the patients, it might be affecting them instead economically as well as health wise.

But why are these myths still so popular among the doctors who not only have a depth knowledge of medicines and human body but also a responsibity to our health.

In our opinion, some of the important reasons of above mentioned errors are discontinuation of self education by the doctors, absense of specialist in clinical pharmacology in hospitals, self assurance of own clinical experience, shortage of numbers of numerous trade names of drugs which contain same active substances and pharmacoceutical companies pressure on doctors to prescribe their drugs by providing with different incentives.
